How I developed an Interest to code

In this post, I will evaluate and take you through my journey to becoming a front-end developer. Being a Mathematics and Computer science student, I have always wanted to code and become a developer. The idea of one code and engagement in code started immediately after I was done with my high school certificate. During my time, there were so many certifications that people could undertake. However, I was unwilling to jump into the wagon without clearly understanding what I wanted. The experience is before explaining to you the great disappointment I had received from my high school result. I was really into the idea of becoming a doctor to please my parents; however, honestly, I was not an independent mind and was not certain of what I wanted, so my high school grade could not allow me to get into any medical professional campus course however I had a variety of options I would undertake. However, I found a perfect opportunity.

The perfect opportunity

So initially, my mother worked at a nearby college "Kenya Institute of Applied Sciences. " Being part of the administrative staff, we could get the priveledges of studying, and she will deduct a cushion amount slowly from her monthly salary. Initially, I was expected to join some ICT famously known in my country that taught the basics of Microsoft packages. I already knew I was good at those. So, I enrolled for a diploma certification in the Institution to pass the time, and little did I know how difficult it would be. So fast forward, I got into the first class, and Ohh My God ! it was C language programming classes. Remember, I am just fresh from high school. After the first session, I promise you I just wanted to quit and let this slide. However, one thing I am sure of is that I am not one to quit. I showed up for the second class since at least I felt that I was doing something, even though I could not get my head to understand the codes. The classes ended at 1:00 pm; however, I was to wait for my mum so we could leave together at 5:00 pm. I had to begin practicing after classes and within the fifth week. I was finally fascinated by the fact that I could write programs capable of printing the Hello World and Sum two numbers. Now the journey has begun, I know about programming.

The twist

The course's first module was to run for six months; after this, I will join my degree course. All this time, I was not aware that there would be a KNEC(Kenya National Examination Council) exam at the end of each module. I remember starting my research and revisions two weeks before the due date for the examinations. However, honestly, I was dead sure that I would not pass the examinations. However, by now, everyone in the Institution is aware of my relationship with my mother, and of course, they are high expectations from me. And at this time, there was no way I cou;d let down my mother. So I sat for the examinations and had to wait one month before the results were out; however, I did my best. At this time for me to join my campus education was due. So I joined the university, having been placed by the examination body for a Bachelor's in Analytical Chemistry Course. I mentioned before that I was unsure what I wanted to pursue. Throughout my time in the Institution, my programming teacher Mr. Caleb grew to be an awesome friend; he advised me that the Analytical Chemistry course was not fit for me, and I had to change the course once I was enrolled Bsc In mathematics and computer science degree. I wanted this; changing my course was swift, indicating I was on the right track.

The interest

Just in the same situation as I had joined the college institution class, the first class I ever attended in the degree class was a C class, a module that I had already gone through and mastered. I remember showing other students how to swit on the computers and opening their compilers for them. I quickly became famous among my friends since I seemed to be versed in the area. My first class was fantastic as I even remember correcting the teacher on a code she had written on the whiteboard. She was amazed; her name was madam Dr. Grace Nyakorema. We quickly grew to be good friends just from that. My life was going awesome since I was certain I had made a good Idea. Two weeks after joining the class, I received a call from my mother, and she was very happy and excited to inform me that I had gotten credit scores from the initial KNEC exams. Having been the youngest in the Institution, I had managed to be the top most students in the exams.

And that is how I began my journey toward programming; let's meet in the next blog post on my amazing experience towards getting into the world of code.
